The Great Emoras

The three Creation Stones, also called the Great Emoras, are ur-relics mentioned in the scriptural Chronicles of the First Epoch as the tools used by the archangels of the OA to craft and mold the worlds of the galaxy. Long considered mythical, the discovery of an emora on a distant wilderness planet more than 500 years ago sent the Known Arc into an uproar and prompted a centuries-long series of violent conflicts between the Cataclyst Church and the Mucktu Bloodline for its possession.

Edu Calgary, a reliquist working for the Rediscovery Corps, believes that he may have just unearthed a second emora during excavations on a unnamed world beyond the borders of the Known Arc. The jewel matches the scriptural description of a Creation Stone, and the circumstances of its discovery leave little doubt as to its provenance.

If Calgary reveals his discovery to his superiors, and it does indeed turn out to be an ur-relic, then it could trigger renewed violence between the Known Arc’s two major religions. The fallout of such a conflict could last centuries and claim millions of lives.

Or, Calgary could keep the discovery to himself and try to unravel the secret of the stone. What, exactly, are the emoras anyway, and why have so many people shed so much blood over the millennia hoping to possess them?

The Great Emoras is a new short story from the Legends of the Known Arc universe by Patrick Cumby, coming soon.
