I use various AI tools for certain minor purposes but all writing on this web site is human generated by me (unless specifically noted).
I am a science-fiction writer, a tech nerd and a student of society, so I’m keeping close tabs on AI and its implications. Part of ‘keeping a close tab’ is actually using it to understand its abilities and scope. I don’t believe that AI, in itself, is more ‘evil’ than any other tool (hammer, bread knife). It’s how you use the tool that makes it dangerous/immoral/unethical.
I use human editors and artists for my books and book covers. I do this for three reasons, first because humans are still better at it; second, I think humans will always be better at it; third, if AI ‘does’ get better than humans for these very human tasks, I’m not sure I want to live in that world.
I do use AI for some ‘throwaway’ components of ad graphics and quick post headers. I also use AI for research purposes, though I always verify what it tells me because it sometimes flagrantly makes stuff up.
AI may well be be the most risky tool ever made by humankind. Only time will tell. I expect our results will be mixed. Fingers crossed.
I will adjust my own AI usage policy as more information becomes available.
